CHINOOK HOCKEY ACADEMY
Chinook Hockey Academy provides both spring and winter hockey development.
Our Coaches follow strict guideline set out by many years of development by our knowledgeable hockey staff to ensure high end development of your players to help ensure that your player has an opportunity to achieve success in our great game of hockey.
During our practices our staff will
work on the following:
> Skating skills – advanced edgework, increased knee-bend, powerful skating, forwards and backwards.
> Puck-handling skills – challenging puck-handling skills, carrying the puck with speed, driving to the net.
> Passing and Shooting Skills – High speed drills that develop hockey sense by moving to get open, finding rebounds, passing with pace and shooting hard, for small openings while moving at game-speed.
> Team-play – i.e. breakouts – half-ice and full ice, transitioning to 2 on 1s and 3 on 2s.
> Battle drills – Small area battle drills. 1 vs 1. 2 vs 1. 2 vs 2 and 3 vs 2.
> Small area games and scrimmages – Structured and unstructured scrimmages/games will include 2 vs 2. 3 vs 3. And 5 vs 5. Structured scrimmages enable game-like situations to be replicated and on-the-spot coaching provided to improve team play and identify specific opportunities for improvement!
